Fortes chuvas fazem subir 3 metros o nível das águas do Rio Mondego em Montemor-o-Velho no distrito de Coimbra. A depressão Elsa fez cair grandes quantidades de chuva durante longos períodos, estes aguaceiros levaram a que o nível das águas do Rio Mondego nas zonas do Baixo Mondego (Coimbra, Montemor-o-Velho, Figueira da Foz), ficasse com as estradas cortadas por toda a região. A subida das águas chegou aos 3 metros de altura, inundando estradas, habitações, linhas ferroviárias, e tudo que é encontrou no seu caminho.
