White Hat – São conhecidos como hackers éticos, porque são “hackers bons”, são hackers que ajudam a resolver problemas e melhoram a segurança. Estes hackers normalmente trabalham para grandes empresas, removem vírus, resolvem ataques de outros hackers, melhoram a segurança de uma empresa na rede ou são contratados por empresas para testar a sua infraestrutura informática. A maioria destes hackers têm formação académica universitária, existindo mesmo uma certificação em Ciência da Computação ou Segurança IT, sendo a mais popular a CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker).
Black Hat– São conhecido como Crackers, estes são criminosos, muitas vezes aparecem na televisão por terem cometidos crimes informáticos. Procuram bancos ou empresas com informação importante, e exploram a sua fraca segurança a fim de roubarem dinheiro, informação de cartões de crédito ou outras informações importantes que podem usar ou vender, normalmente o seu objectivo é sempre o dinheiro.
Gray Hat – Não são hackers que roubam dinheiro ou informação, mas também não têm o objectivo em fazer o bem. Estão entre o preto e o branco, têm todas as competências de um Black Hat, mas não optando por praticar o bem nem o mal, comprometem o mundo dos hackers, por conhecer todo o seu funcionamento e possuírem o poder de conseguir intervir.
Green Hat – São novos hackers, chamados neophyte, newbie ou noob, são hackers com pouca experiência e ainda pouco conhecimento, mas que anseiam torna-se grandes hackers. Devido à sua vontade de aprender, conhecer e fazer algo relevante, são identificados nas comunidades na rede por fazerem muitas perguntas entre os colegas também hackers. Nem todos na comunidade estão dispostos a falar e normalmente causam algum desconforto nos outros por falta de confiança.
Red Hat – São como os vigilantes do mundo hacker. São como os White Hat, em que o objectivo é fazer o bem, mas no caso destes hackers, o objectivo é atacar o Black Hat. Numa intenção acabar com esse hacker considerado perigoso, atacando o seu sistema, entrando no seu computador, infectar o seu sistema, a finalidade é destruir esse hacker mesmo que tenham que utilizar métodos agressivos.
Blue Hat – É um hacker que uma empresa normalmente contrata para consultorias de segurança. Normalmente quando uma empresa lança um novo sistema ou produto, e o hacker procura falhar na segurança para que a empresa possa resolver essas mesmas falhar e o produto possa ser lançado sem falhas que o possa comprometer.
Script Kiddie – Normalmente não se preocupam com hacking, não fazem hacking, apenas copiam código e usam para criar um vírus, fazem download de software para isso e depois aprendem como funciona o programa para atingir o seu objectivo. Um ataque comum é um DoSing ou DDoSing (Denial of Service and Distributed Denial of Service) que tem o objectivo de inundam um IP com tanta informação que faz com que deixa de funcionar, é um ataque comum do grupo de hackers “Anonymous”.
ENGLISH
White Hat – Known as ethical hackers because they are "good hackers", they are hackers who help solve problems and improve security. These hackers typically work for large companies, to remove viruses, resolve other hacker attacks, improve the security of a company on the network or are hired by companies to test their IT infrastructure. Most of these hackers are university academics, and there is even a Computer Science or IT Security certification, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) being the most popular.
Black Hat – They are known as Crackers, these are criminals, often appear on television for committing crimes. They seek out banks or companies with important information, and exploit their poor security in order to steal money, credit card information or other important information they can use or sell, usually their purpose is always money.
Gray Hat – They are not hackers who steal money or information, but they also do not aim at doing good. They are between black and white, they have all the skills of a Black Hat, but they not choosing to practice good or evil, but can compromise the world of hackers, they know how it all works and have the power to be able to intervene.
Green Hat – Are new hackers, called neophyte, newbie or noob, are hackers with little experience and yet little knowledge, but who have the crave to become great hackers. Because of their willingness to learn and do something relevant, they are identified in the communities on the network for asking lots of questions among fellow hackers as well. Not everyone in the community is willing to talk and usually causes some discomfort in others because of a lack of trust.
Red Hat – They are like the vigilantes of the hacker world. They are like a White Hat, in which the aim is to do good, but in the case of these hackers, the objective is to attack Black Hats. With intention to attack this hacker considered dangerous, attacking their system, entering their computer, infecting the their system, the purpose is to destroy this hacker even if they have to use aggressive methods.
Blue Hat – It is a hacker that companies usually hires for security consultancies. Usually when a company launches a new system or product, and the hacker have to try to hack the product, and test the security, so that the company can solve those problems and the product can be released without compromises.
Script Kiddie – They usually do not care about hacking, they do not hack, just copy code and use it to create a virus, they download software for it and then learn how the program works to achieve their purpose. A common attack is a DoSing or DDoSing (Denial of Service and Distributed Denial of Service) that aims to flood an IP with so much information that makes it stop working, is a common attack by the hacker group "Anonymous".
Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA)
The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) is a United States proposed law introduced on November 30, 2011 by U.S. Representative Michael Rogers (R-MI) and 29 co-sponsors. The bill would give the U.S. government additional options and resources to ensure the security of networks against attacks and enforce copyright and patents. Several commentators have distinguished CISPA from the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) bill. CISPA was reported out of committee on December 1, 2011 and has yet to be debated or brought to a vote. CISPA has been criticized by advocates of Internet privacy and neutrality, such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Avaaz.org, because it contains few limits on how and when the government may monitor private information, and because few safeguards are included as to how the data may be used; they claim that such new powers are likely to be used to find and punish file sharers rather than foreign spies or hackers.
Due to the opposition the bill has experienced, the co-sponsors are planning to amend the bill to address many of the concerns of its opponents — including limiting its scope to a narrower definition of cyber-threats, and stating that the "theft of intellectual property" refers to the theft of research and development. O que é a «CISPA» (Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act)
A CISPA (Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act), em português «Lei de Partilha e Protecção de Informações Cibernéticas», é uma lei dos Estados Unidos proposta apresentada a 30 de Novembro de 2011 por um representante dos EUA, Michael Rogers (R-MI) e 29 co-patrocinadores. O projeto de lei daria as opções do governo dos EUA e recursos adicionais para garantir a segurança de redes contra ataques e fazer cumprir direitos de autor e patentes. Vários comentadores têm distinguido CISPA do polémico projeto de lei de pirataria online, a SOPA. Attack on DNS servers The hacker group «Anonymous» announces that in the day 31 of March of 2012 there will be an attack against the Internet. The attack this time is not on a specific target of an organization, but it will be against the Internet globally, attacking the DNS servers will result on the users no be able to open web sites.
Operation Global Blackout This attack is part of the «Operation Global Blackout», whose aim is to protest against the laws, SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act), PIPA (Protect IP Act) and ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement). In order to shut the Internet down, one thing is to be done. Down the 13 root DNS servers of the Internet. Those servers are as follow:

By cutting these off the Internet, nobody will be able to perform a domain name lookup, thus, disabling the HTTP Internet, which is, after all, the most widely used function of the Web. Anybody entering "http://www.google.com" or ANY other url, will get an error page, thus, they will think the Internet is down, which is, close enough. Remember, this is a protest, we are not trying to 'kill' the Internet, we are only temporarily shutting it down where it hurts the most.
While some ISPs uses DNS caching, most are configured to use a low expire time for the cache, thus not being a valid failover solution in the case the root servers are down. It is mostly used for speed, not redundancy.
We have compiled a Reflective DNS Amplification DDoS tool to be used for this attack. It is based on AntiSec's DHN, contains a few bugfix, a different dns list/target support and is a bit stripped down for speed.
The principle is simple; a flaw that uses forged UDP packets is to be used to trigger a rush of DNS queries all redirected and reflected to those 13 IPs. The flaw is as follow; since the UDP protocol allows it, we can change the source IP of the sender to our target, thus spoofing the source of the DNS query.
The DNS server will then respond to that query by sending the answer to the spoofed IP. Since the answer is always bigger than the query, the DNS answers will then flood the target ip. It is called an amplified because we can use small packets to generate large traffic. It is called reflective because we will not send the queries to the root name servers, instead, we will use a list of known vulnerable DNS servers which will attack the root servers for us.

No matter what, it will be global. It will be known.
